DARLENE  LAWRENCE       

 

          Darlene Lawrence received her doctoral degree from the University of Southern California where she was a student of Gwendolyn Koldofsky.  She has accompanied many prominent California artists and has toured under the management of Sol Hurok.  She has served as the accompanist for the Oregon Bach Festival under Helmuth Rilling, and was selected to accompany the thousand-voice Honor Choir of the 1984 Olympiad in Los Angles. In addition to her work as an accompanist, Dr. Lawrence is a published composer, and has worked as a studio singer in motion pictures, television and recordings. While on the faculty of the University of Iowa in addition to coaching and accompanying in the voice and opera areas she taught graduate Song Literature. Ms. Lawrence is currently residing in Southern California where she was a coach/accompanist at the University of San Diego before her retirement in 2006.
